SUSTAINABILITY
SEE Centennial is shaping the path for a sustainable future.
We are committed to providing customers, business owners and employees with an exceptional experience, while incorporating environmentally sustainable operating practices and energy-efficiency measures at our property.
SEE Centennial is built on three cornerstones of Sustainability, Efficiency, and the Environment. At Dulles Town Center, we recognize our role in environmental stewardship, both as a property manager and a vibrant member of the communities we serve.
How are we doing so far? Our efforts are adding up:
Dulles Town Center has repurposed for value-added uses, 2,300+ gallons of cooking oil, including animal feed ingredients and renewable biofuels.Saved lamps and other similar materials from vacated tenant spaces, re-using them with new incoming tenants to ease the burden on local landfills.Recycling 9.25 tons of cardboard recycled in 2021 alone, the equivalent of saving 157 mature trees, 64,750 gallons of water, 3,607 kilowatt hours of energy use, 425 gallons of oil, and 83.25 cubic yards of landfill space.Dulles Town Center has converted food court lights to LED which reduced electricity usage by half without compromising brightness or light levels. Also, the mall is in the process of switching from florescent tube lighting to more energy efficient LED lighting around the shopping center.Dulles Town Center has partnered with Virginia Department of Transportation for the Adopt-a-highway initiative for Loudoun County. The adopted roadway permit allows Dulles Town Center to preform bi-annual debris cleanups, helping to keep the community clean and wildlife protected.Dulles Town Center is investing in energy conservation by upgrading the center’s building automation system (for common area/parking lot lighting, HVAC systems and escalators), furthering the environmental stewardship. While we are proud of what we have accomplished so far, we are always working to institute new programs designed to decrease our carbon footprint, reduce waste, conserve natural resources, reduce our energy use, and save money.
