DULLES TOWN CENTER TO DEBUT LOUDOUN COUNTY’S FIRST ELECTRIC VEHICLE FAST CHARGING STATION IN PARTNERSHIP WITH NRG ENERGY / EVGO
DULLES, VA — April 08, 2013— Dulles Town Center, Loudoun County’s destination for shopping, dining and entertainment, is excited to announce that it has entered into an agreement with eVgo ® (ee-vee-go), a subsidiary of NRG Energy, to install the first electric vehicle fast charging station in Loudoun County at Dulles Town Center. In addition to offering a 240-volt “Level 2” charger that is capable of charging any vehicle with a plug, the eVgo Freedom Station® will feature a 50-kilowatt direct current (DC) fast charger. By charging an electric vehicle (EV) at an exceptionally fast rate of 150 miles of range per hour, the DC fast charger gives EV drivers the convenience they need to quickly charge their vehicles and revolutionizes the way people drive electric cars. The eVgo Freedom Station will be located near The Cheesecake Factory, Dick’s Sporting Goods and LA|Fitness. Construction has commenced and the charging station projected to open in May.
“Dulles Town Center is proud to partner with NRG Energy and eVgo to debut Loudoun County’s first rapid charging EV station that is available to shoppers,” stated Alan H. Gottlieb, Chief Operating Officer of Lerner. “The new eVgo Freedom Station at Dulles Town Center will provide electric vehicle owners the freedom and flexibility to enjoy the County’s premier shopping, dining and entertainment destination as their vehicles charge,” he added.
“Forward thinking companies like Lerner contribute to a healthier planet and a greener Loudoun County,” said Michael Krauthamer, eVgo Director of the Mid-Atlantic region. “This Freedom Station will enable drivers of zero and low emission vehicles to use little or no gasoline while visiting the premier retailers at Dulles Town Center. We’re building Freedom Station sites with DC fast chargers strategically around the region to give EV drivers range confidence and to revolutionize the way they experience electric car charging.”
